UDAIPUR RAJASTHAN|THE CITY OF LAKES 2020
Udaipur established in the year 1558 by Maharana Udai Sing II. The city was the capital of the Mewar Kingdom after Chittorgarh. Udaipur captured by Mughal ruler Akbar and surrounded by Aravali mountain ranges. Which separates it from Thor desert.
Udaipur is a beautiful city in the Indian state Rajasthan. Located in the southernmost part of the state, the city is also termed as “city of lakes”. Udaipur is famous for its surrounded by seven lakes. Five most famous among them are
- Fatehsagar Lake
- Lake Pichola
- Swaroop Sagar Lake
- Rangsagar
- Doodh Talali Lake
The best time to visit Udaipur City between the month of September to March. I am writing about a short tour plan of this city of Lakes in my Udaipur Travel blog.
On day- 1
your first choice to visit the most famous Lake Pichola. Lake Pichola is an artificial lake situated in the heart of Udaipur. It is the oldest and the largest lake of the city. The calm and quiet lake attracts thousands of tourists every year due to its beauty. Bordered by Aravali hills, majestic Castles, and grand bathing ghats, it is a dream place for nature lovers.
- The place is open from 9 am to 6 pm every day. The boating facility is available at Lake Pichola.
- Here you can avail either 6 seaters or 8 seater boats.
- Charges are Rs 400 per person for adults and Rs 200 per child. The charges are high during sunset.
- A sunset ride will cost around Rs 700 per person for adults and Rs 400 per child.
From there next visit to Jag Mandir
The Jag Mandir Palace or ‘The Lake Garden Palace’ is a glorious palace located at the heart of Lake Pichola. It is three-storied architecture and is made out of marble and yellow sand stone. The palace currently has a museum where the history of the palace is preserved and a restaurant called ‘Darikhana’ that serves traditional Rajasthani food.
From there visit to City Palace
City Palace is built on the banks of Lake Pichola. It is considered as the largest royal complex in whole Rajasthan. This glorious palace built in the year 1559 by Maharana Uday Singh and served as the main seat of power of the Mewar kingdom. The Palace now has a museum that showcases some of the finest colorful paintings and traditional Rajasthani architecture.
From there next visit to Jagdish Temple
inside the city palace complex. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the Jagdish Temple is a grand structure located inside the City Palace Complex. Jagdish Temple is reputed for being the most significant temple in the entire city of Udaipur. In the evening enjoy a beautiful traditional dance show at Bagore ki Haveli.
Day-2
On the 2nd day book your a half day-long sightseeing tour. then
First, visit Fateh Sagar Lake. Fateh Sagar Lake is a glittering lake and one of the major tourist attractions of the region. Surrounded by the Aravalli Hills, this is the second-largest artificial lake of Udaipur popular for its scenic beauty. The Fateh Sagar Lake has three distinct islands in it. You can see a boat-shaped restaurant and a small zoo. The second island has a public park with water-jet fountains. The third island has the best solar observing site in all of Asia.
Fateh Sagar Lake Udaipur Boating Charges :
- A regular boat ride will cost Rs 30 per person.
- A speedboat will charge Rs 20 for 30 minutes.
- A Motorboat ride will cost Rs 200 per person and Rs 100 per Child.
From there to go Saheliyon ki Bari.
Saheliyon Ki Bari is a royal garden also known as the Garden or the Courtyard of Maidens. It was made for the maidens who accompanied the wife of Maharana Sangram Singh after her marriage. It is located on the banks of the Fateh Sagar Lake.
Next to visit
Sajjangarh Palace. Located just outside the city of Udaipur, on top of a hill, Sajjangarh Palace is a former royal residence of the Mewar dynasty, who ruled this place for centuries.
Day-3
On day-3 return back to the airport or railway station for departure.
How to reach Udaipur :
You can reach in Udaipur by air, train or bus. The city has a domestic airport at around 22 Km away from the city center. The nearest international airport is Jaipur. You can reach in Udaipur through train or Bus and connected to almost all big cities of India. Reserved cab fare for a daylong trip in Udaipur will cost around Rs 3000. Other than this you may also reserve a local auto-rickshaw for sightseeing tour.
- From Udaipur to Jaisalmer distance is 500 km (Approx) and it takes time 9 hours.
- Its a 7 hours journey from Udaipur to Jaipur City via NH58. The distance between this citys is 395 km (Approx).
