Jaisalmer District is a town located in Indian state Rajsathan. It is the capital city of Rajasthan. The drive to Jaisalmer 575 km from Jaipur,. Jaisalmer lies in the heart of Thar Desert and the place is currently one of the most popular tourist destinations of India. The city is popular as “Golden City”. It is surround by golden sand dunes and magnificent castles or havelis made of goldens and stone. Here I am Sharing 4 days 5 nights travel guide of this desert city.
Day-1
Patwon Ki Haveli
After reaching Jaisalmer first go to visit Patwon Ki Haveli. Patwon Ki Haveli is a renowned tourist attraction in Jaisalmer. The haveli is a cluster of five small havelis built by a rich Brocade Merchantin the 19th Century. The mansion is commonly known as Kothari’s Patwa Haveli. The five havelis were built for the 5 sons of the merchantand the entire complex is the largest mansion in the city. This building maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and it is recognized as a renowned architectural as well as a historical site.
- Entry fee here is Rs 20 per person for Indian tourist and Rs 100 per person for foreigners.

Salim Singh ki Haveli
Next visit Salim Singh ki Haveli. Salim Singh ki Haveli is a beautiful building located at the heart of Jaisalmer city. At present, it is one of the main tourist attractions of the place. The mansion has a beautiful arched roof which looks like a peacock. Iwas commissioned by Salim Singh, the then prime minister of the Kingdom.

Day 2
Jaisalmer fort
On Day-2 morning, first go to visit the famous Jaisalmer fort. Nestled amidst the golden sands of Thar Desert, this is one of largest forts in the World. The fort was constructed by Yellow Sand stone. It is popularly known as ‘Sonar Quila’ and “the Golden Fort”. This fort is like a mini town which houses many beautiful temples, havelis, shops, and restaurants. The fort has been declared UNESCO world heritage site. The fort was built in the year of 1156 by Bhati Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal. It stands at a height of 250 ft. and is surrounded by a 30 ft. tall walls. Due to this height you can get a beautiful panoramic view of the Jaisalmer city from the fort walls.

Jain Temple inside the fort
Next visit Jain Temple inside the fort. These are a group of Jain temples dating back 12thand 15th centuries. The temple are dedicated to various Jain Tirthankars. The walls of these temples are decorated with beautiful carvings which are of famous Dilwara style.Enjoy a walk around the fort complex and feel its past glory. Meanwhile, you can also do some shopping inside the fort.From Jaisalmer fort go to visit Gadisar Lake.
Gadisar Lake

On the outskirts of Jaisalmer there lies the beautiful Gadisar Lake, which is like an oasisin the heart of Thar Desert. Back in the middleages, there were no canals or irrigation system available here to bring water to this region. Located close to the fort of Jaisalmer, the lake is an easy escape from the hot and dry desert climate. Gadisar Lake offers attractive views of the lake and the adjacent fort.

- Boat charge : Rs 100 per person for 2 seater Pedal boat, R s200 per person for 4 seater Pedal boat, and Rs 300 per person for 6 seater rowing boat.

Bada Bagh
From Gadisar Lake go to visit Bada Bagh. Literally meaning big garden, this is a garden complex about 6 km north of Jaisalmer. Over looking a mango grove, here you can see a set of royal cenotaphs, or chhatris, of Maharajas of Jaisalmer state.

Day-3
Sam Sand Dunes
On day-3 of your tour visit Sam Sand Dunes. Sam sand dunes is the best and one of the most authentic desert dune sites in India. The 30-60 meter tall dunes attract numerous travelers every year. It is located just 45 km west of Jaisalmer city and here you can find many desert camps built in 2-3 km radius of sand dunes where you can put up for the night.
- Best time to visit Jaisalmer in Rajasthan : From October to March.
- Desert Festival : February month of every year.
- Temperature in Jaisalmer : During this time morning 25 c and night 3 c (approx).
The best time to reach here is during evening at around 4 to 7 Pm or at early morning at around 4-6 am. This is the best place to see sunrise or sunset. You can book either a camel ride or a jeep safari to reach the sunset point. The booking facility is available at the camp. In the evening you can enjoy cultural programs and camp fire at the camp site. The charges depend on the number of activities you are participating.
Day-4
Desert National Park in Jaisalmer
Desert National Park is one of its kind national park that is located on the outskirts of Jaisalmer and extends to all over India – Pakistan Border. Visiting this place gives one the opportunity to spot some of the most exotic wildlife. Be camera-ready and click wildlife. 6 million-year-old dinosaurs fossils have been found in this park. Go on a safari here and spot all this and more.
- Mammals : Camels, desert fox, Bengal fox, chinkara, wolves, desert cat, and the Black buck.
- Birds : Various kinds of eagles, harriers, falcons, buzzards, kestrel, vultures, Short-toed eagles, tawny eagles, spotted eagles, laggar falcons.

Kuldhara Village [HAUNTED VILLAGE]
Kuldhara is widely popular as the haunted village located 25 km in Jaisalmer. It is absolutely intriguing and interesting place to add to the itinerary when visiting Jaisalmer. There are several myths and legends surrounding this place. Some people also claim to have seen and experienced ghostly and paranormal activities. Hundreds of years ago, the whole village abandoned their houses over light to save their honor and no one knows where they went. Now a days its a most attraction place for tourist who is loves paranormal things.
- Time: Open from 10 am to 6 pm.

Day 5
On day 5 of your tour head back to airport or railway station for departure.

It is well connected by all major city like Delhi,Agra, Mumbai and Ahmadabad etc. Jodhpur Airport is connect through Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad. The nearest international airport of Jaisalmer is in Jodhpur. Luxury bus fare is around Rs 500 for this trip. Online booking facility is also available for bus services.
